Automatically split scanned PDFs into separate documents
Scan a whole stack of documents at once with blank or separator sheets in between, and the program turns one big PDF into separate documents.

Where the time goes
Scanning every document separately is slow. Scanning everything at once is fast, but then the big PDF has to be split by hand. The action does it as soon as the scanner saves the file to the folder.
What the action should do
- Split a PDF at blank pages and remove them
- Split at separator sheets with a QR code or barcode
- Split every fixed number of pages, such as every 2 pages
- Use the QR code text in the file name or for sorting
- Merge several files from a folder into one PDF by name or time
- Remove blank pages without splitting, for example from duplex scans
Examples
- Incoming mail scanned in one go and split letter by letter
- Invoices and receipts for bookkeeping
- Duplex scans without blank pages
How the program will work
- Runs in the background as a Windows service, even when nobody is signed in
- For each folder you set a file mask, such as *.pdf, and the actions to run
- Actions can be chained, for example convert to PDF/A, sign and send by e-mail
- Processed files are moved to an archive, failed ones are set aside with an error description
- Files are processed on your computer or network and are not uploaded anywhere unless that is the action’s purpose
Frequently asked questions
Does it detect blank pages in greyish scans?
Yes, the sensitivity is adjustable. For poor scans, a separator sheet with a QR code is more reliable.
Where do I get separator sheets?
The program is planned to generate them as a printable PDF, with your own text in the QR code.
Are scans uploaded to a server?
No. Splitting runs on the computer where the program is installed.
