Automatically zip new files in a folder
Exports, logs and attachments are packed into a ZIP archive on their own, saving space and making them easy to send as one file.

Why automate it
Zipping files by hand happens irregularly, so archives end up missing or incomplete. A rule set up once zips every file as soon as it appears and can move or delete the original.
What the action should do
- Each file into its own ZIP or all into a shared archive
- Archive name with variables, such as export_{date:yyyy-MM}.zip
- Optional password with AES-256 encryption
- Keep, move or delete the original after zipping
- Check that the archive can be read before deleting the original
Examples
- Zip daily accounting exports into a monthly archive
- Zip server logs and move them to a backup disk
- Zip attachments with a password before sending them by e-mail
How the program will work
- Runs in the background as a Windows service, even when nobody is signed in
- For each folder you set a file mask, such as *.pdf, and the actions to run
- Actions can be chained, for example convert to PDF/A, sign and send by e-mail
- Processed files are moved to an archive, failed ones are set aside with an error description
- Files are processed on your computer or network and are not uploaded anywhere unless that is the action’s purpose
Frequently asked questions
Will this action be free?
Yes. We plan ZIP compression as part of the free basic edition.
Can Windows open password-protected archives?
AES-encrypted archives open in 7-Zip, WinRAR and most archivers. Windows Explorer only opens the older, weaker ZipCrypto encryption, so we will offer it as an option.
Can the ZIP be sent on right away?
Yes. Actions can be chained: zip the files, then send them by e-mail or copy them to a server.
